D4 Community Connects - Office of the Public Administrator Guardian Conservator
Thank you for joining us for our 31st installment of the D4 Community Connects neighborhood leaders call.
I want to start today by acknowledging that it is March once again, almost a year since the first Public Health Order was enacted. But March 2021 isn’t like 2020. Now we have multiple vaccines and the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel feels more and more real. Numbers of cases, hospitalizations and deaths are sharply declining. But this would not have been possible without each and every one of you here today. So for that, thank you – thank you for doing your part to keep yourself and your community safe.
Today’s guest is from our Public Administrator Guardian Conservator Office, a critical service the County offers to the people of Santa Clara County. The Public Guardian (Probate), serves adults with cognitive impairments by managing basic personal and financial needs. The Public Conservator (Mental Health), provides mental health services for Santa Clara County residents who are gravely disabled due to serious mental illness and the Public Administrator serves the public by managing the estates of persons who die without a will or executor.

Santa Clara County Moving into Red Tier of State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy - Following the State of California’s announcement that Santa Clara County has met the requirements to move into the Red Tier of the Blueprint for a Safer Economy, the County of Santa Clara Health Officer announced earlier this week that the County will align with the State’s framework and allow all activities open in Red Tier counties to resume, effective yesterday, March 3. As a result, most of the industry/activity-specific local directives will be lifted, including the Health Officer’s Mandatory Directive on Travel. However, quarantining after travel is strongly recommended, in alignment with the State’s Travel Advisory. The County’s October 5th Risk Reduction Order, which requires everyone to follow all State orders and guidance, maintain distance, and wear face coverings, will remain in effect. The Order also requires all businesses and other entities to maximize telework, post a Social Distancing Protocol outlining specific COVID-19 safety plans, and promptly report any cases to the Public Health Department. Although more activities are allowed under the Red Tier, the County Health Officer urges everyone to remember that indoor activities are much higher risk than outdoor activities and to take every step to reduce your risk as much as possible. Educator-Focused COVID-19 Vaccine Site Opens at Santa Clara County Fairgrounds - Officials announced the launch of a COVID-19 vaccination clinic focused on educators at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. A collaboration between Santa Clara County Fire, Santa Clara County EMS, and the Santa Clara County Office of Education, the clinic will have the capacity to vaccinate more than 500 workers in the education sector each day. The clinic site will also be staffed by fire, EMS, law enforcement, and local government personnel from throughout Santa Clara County. The County Office of Education is working with local school districts to manage outreach and appointments, with a focus on reaching educators in districts that have been most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. SMALL BUSINESS LOAN PROGRAM - Our County small business loan program is now live. My colleague Sup. Simitian and I created this program late last year in order to better support our small business community impacted by the Shelter in Place orders. EVENT - My office is sponsoring an EWaste collection drive that is being organized by Campbell’s very own Trashpunx.
