Thank you to everyone who joined us for our  21st installment of the D4 Community Connects neighborhood leaders call.  

 Based on previous participant feedback and desire to make this feel as close to an in-person gathering as technologically possible, we changed the format to include polls, break-out rooms and a special guest presentation.

If you haven’t heard the term “supportive housing” before, what do you think it means? If you have heard the term, what do you know about supportive housing? 

The County is home to 40 departments that provide programs and services that help our communities across a wide spectrum of need. Today’s guest is from our Office of Supportive Housing​, a critical service the County offers to our residents.  

The Office of Supportive Housing’s (OSH) mission is to increase the supply of housing and supportive housing that is affordable and available to extremely low income and /or special needs households. OSH supports the County mission of promoting a healthy, safe, and prosperous community by ending and preventing homelessness.

  • Santa Clara County “Red Risk Tier"
  • Testing Order - The testing order is a mandatory legal order that health care providers must test residents that have been a close contact to a positive case or that are essential workers. If you are not able to access a test from your provider you can submit a notice of violation, like with any other health order violation, through the online portal www.sccCOVIDconcerns.org  
  • Unhealthy Air Quality and Spare the Air Alert - Residents are encouraged to continue to monitor the air quality in their area. Information on conditions where you live are available at www.airnow.gov. When air quality is poor, residents should avoid strenuous outdoor activities and being outdoors for an extended amount of time. 
  • COVID-19 testing - the County offers several drive-through testing locations that allow people to remain in their vehicles to minimize exposure to poor air quality. The drive-through locations can be found at www.sccfreetest.org. See below for additional information on testing options. 
  • Governor Newsom Signs Legislation to Support Small Businesses - AB 1577 conforms state law to federal law by excluding from gross income Paycheck Protection Program loans that were forgiven through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and subsequent amendments in the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act of 2020. SB 1447 authorizes a $100 million hiring tax credit program for qualified small businesses. The hiring credit will be equal to $1,000 for each net increase in qualified employees, up to $100,000 for each qualified small business employer. 
  • The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) has compiled some helpful information for employers that can be viewed here. 
  • Small Business Resources - Silicon Valley Strong (https://www.siliconvalleystrong.org), San Jose Office of Economic Development (http://www.sjeconomy.com), or to Sacred Heart Services (https://sacredheartcs.org).  
  • Traffic Court Update - Due to COVID-19 and significant budget reductions for Fiscal Year 20-21, the traffic hearings scheduled for the Santa Clara Courthouse and the South County courthouse will be continued until at least January 4, 2021.
